Guided Tour of a Bog!
The children enjoyed a guided tour of a local bog, Carrownagappul, that has been rewetted and given back to nature in recent years. It was very informative and the children gained a wealth of knowledge about the wonder of shagnum moss in forming peat, the digging of turf long ago, flora and fauna of the bogland aswell as the preservation of the Gallach Bog Man. They got the chance to examine a piece of ancient bog butter also. An excellent day was had by all!
